How Tax Registration Is Carried Out

The tax registration procedure differs depending on the activity carried out and the taxpayer’s situation. For authorized individuals (PFA), individual enterprises (ÎI), and family enterprises (ÎF), tax registration is carried out through the National Trade Register Office (ONRC), at the time of registration. The unique registration code (CUI) assigned by ONRC is also used as a tax identification number.

Individuals who practice liberal professions or carry out economic activities regulated by special laws, without registration with ONRC, must register directly with the competent tax authority. In this case, Form 070 is used, within the applicable legal deadline.

For individuals who have a personal identification number (CNP), this generally represents their tax identification number. In certain situations, submitting Form 020 is required. Individuals who do not have a CNP may receive a tax identification number (NIF) through Form 030.

VAT Registration

VAT registration may be mandatory or optional, depending on the estimated turnover and the chosen tax regime. For individuals who register through ONRC, the application can be submitted during the registration process. Subsequently, certain changes regarding the VAT regime may be declared through Form 700.

How Tax Information Is Updated

Changes to the information initially declared must be communicated to the tax authority within the deadline provided by tax legislation. For changes concerning the tax vector, tax domicile, secondary offices, or the VAT regime, Form 700 is the main tool for electronic updating.

In the case of individuals carrying out independent activities or practicing liberal professions, communication with ANAF is carried out, under the conditions provided by law, through the Virtual Private Space (SPV).

Why It Is Important to Update Information Correctly

Correct tax registration and the timely updating of information help avoid administrative errors and compliance issues. The choice of the appropriate form and procedure depends on the taxpayer’s tax status, the type of activity, and the specific circumstances of the taxpayer.
