Starting January 1, 2025, CAEN Rev.3, the new version of the Classification of Activities in the National Economy, has come into effect, as approved by the President of the National Institute of Statistics through Order No. 377/2024. This update involves modifying and aligning CAEN codes used by companies, sole traders, individual enterprises, and family enterprises with the European NACE Rev.2.1 standards.

✔ Commercial companies
✔ Authorized natural persons (PFA)

- Online, via the ONRC portal
- Physically, at the Trade Register Office
- By mail or courier
The Trade Register Office will issue a free updated registration certificate.
Deadlines and Penalties

With the CAEN update, new limits on the number of activities that can be registered are imposed:
➡ Sole traders (PFA) can have a maximum of 5 CAEN codes
➡ Individual enterprises can have a maximum of 10 CAEN codes
What Changes Does CAEN Rev.3 Bring?
The new CAEN classification ensures better alignment with European standards. Changes include:
✔ Merging of existing CAEN classes
✔ Splitting a CAEN class into multiple distinct activities
✔ Reorganizing certain economic sectors
Where Can the New CAEN Codes Be Found?
