According to a new draft Emergency Ordinance, company-owned vending machines will have to be equipped with cash registers by 31 December 2023.
According to Law 136/2019, the initial deadline for equipping commercial vending machines with electronic cash registers was 31 December 2019. This was postponed for the first time to 31 December 2020 (OUG 1/2020), the second time to 31 December 2021 (OUG 226/2020), the third time to 31 December 2022 (OG 11/2022) and according to the new draft OUG, the fourth postponement – to 31 December 2023 – follows.
We mention that the Government should have established, by mid-September 2019, the configuration and the technical and functional characteristics of the special cash registers, but this has not happened yet.
Thus, only after the technical information mentioned above is available, distributors will be able to apply for technical approval of special cash register models at the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics. After approval, they will be put on the market and only then will companies be able to purchase them and equip their commercial machines.
